Astrology is a colossal subject that can only be very lightly touched upon on a single web page. So, this page just very lightly touches on this splendid subject. Indeed, it could be said to be Mankind's finest subject for study. It is through Astrology that science emerged. It is, as you will see, a superb instrument that gives us clues into the Nature of All Things, or 'God'. Hence there are many astrological clues in The Bible, notably the 'Three Wise Men' - the Magi - were Persian Astrologers, following the 'Star of David'. One of the most respected Astrologers living today, John Frawley, also points out that astrology is ultimately a means for revealing the Divine. Finally, astrology has been practiced by some of the world's greatest thinkers, notably Aristotle, Plato, Isaac Newton. Fine minds, of course, continue to be involved with it. An excellent book that will give you as much of an introduction to Astrology that you will ever need is called The Fated Sky ¨C Astrology in History by Benson Bobrick.
WHAT IS ASTROLOGY? Astrology is simply the study of meaning of celestial bodies. That is, it's used to connect what is up above us in the sky with our experiences down here on Earth.
At its lowest level it shows that we are at one with the Universe around us. But as you look into it further it helps unlock an insight into The Absolute, which is the Total Living Unity of all things and All Time, which many may called 'God. As William Lilly (see picture on left), an outstanding astrologer from the 17th century, says that astrology is 'the heavenly knowledge of the stars, wherein the great and admirable works of the invisible and all-glorious God are so manifestly apparent'.
EVERYTHING IS DONE Another fine lesson that astrology gives us is a simple message that is very close to my heart: YOU DO NOT CREATE. CREATION HAPPENS TO YOU. That is, our lives, our Existence and everything are ultimately out of our hands. Everything is done. Everything past, present and future exists now. And all things in Creation are part of the Whole. Nothing is, nor ever will be out of place. This lesson would be well learned by the people of the world today who believe they can get what they want, do what they want, have no sense of overall context, and thrive on greed and ego. These people are always at the root of the sadness and sorrow of mankind, and so would do well to reconsider their ways.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ACCURATE ASTROLOGICAL PREDICTION There is no form of prediction that is more accurate than astrological prediction - that is, when it's done in the right hands. A true practitioner of astrology should know this all too well, because such a person will have predicted events accurately with specific timing and details. But it is not the 'glory' of the prediction that touches the true astrologer. It is the SIGNIFICANCE of the fact that things can be predicted. It is the fact that if something is meant to be, as shown by an astrological chart, it cannot be changed. It will be what it is. You cannot reach out and change the positions of the planets. They will go where they go, and their meaning is directly related to us here on Earth. And thus Existence unfolds on Earth in a way that is completely out of our hands. Accept this main lesson of astrology and you will begin to understand the Nature of Things. You will begin better to feel, flow with, understand the Nature of 'God'. And so, you will begin to know yourself in your fullest and most wonderful state. Of course, such a lesson is not easy to grasp, especially after Man has for centuries deluded himself into thinking that his will is king. But I assure you, you will learn this lesson one day, perhaps not through astrology, but learn it you will. And perhaps not too soon. And then you will see that you can play a part, but that your lines are already written. Having said that, since you are TRULY at One (ie your real true self is Absolute Unity), you 'wrote the lines Yourself. Begin to know this and you will see the Whole and how good it is, and that knowing it does not preclude a fruitful, fulfilled and happy life.
It is generally accepted that someone called Alan Leo invented Modern Astrology. He was involved with the Theosophists, and he developed a form of very quick fix astrology, which heralded the coming of the very general 'star sign' astrology that most of you will know about. But this is not really what I would call Modern Astrology. Much of this new subject is based in the ideas of the psychologist, Carl Jung, and has been developed notably by Liz Greene, a gentle man named, Howard Sasportas, and others. This sort of 'psychological' astrology is helpful if you are going through a tough time and you want a way to identify the roots of the problem. It is also very self empowering because it helps you know yourself, understand what is going on in your life, so that you may free yourself from patterns of complexes that may hold you back. For instance, you may find you are going through a period when you feel low or heavy, and an astrologer might find that Saturn is in a position in the sky that is 'sitting quite horribly on your Natal Sun'. They can also, if you think about it correctly, help you experience your connection with the Cosmos, which can induce some sense of Unity. Because this form of astrology is based very much on you 'helping' yourself, which is of course very good, it can, however, fall short in a vital way.
Traditional Astrology relies on the tried and tested methods that have evolved over thousands of years, used by men such as Plato and Aristotle, not just of prediction but also of analysis of situations, the psychology of situations. One of its branches, Horary Astrology, is extraordinarily accurate for prediction; for finding things (yes it can help you with considerable success find lost objects); for identifying your strengths and weaknesses and so on. And all you need to do for accurate results is select an astrologer who is skilled in Horary Astrology. Then you ask a question. The astrologer will set a chart for the moment he or she understands the question. No birth details are required, and yet many specifics can be revealed. Traditional Natal Astrology, which needs accurate time, date and place of birth, can be used to predict all the major events in your life - and probably all minor events if there were world enough and time. Yes, that means what is in the chart to be done will be done. That which is not in the chart will not be done. So, alas, not all of us can be famous, not all of us can be rich, not all of us can get the girls, but we will all do what is 'written' for us to do. And, armed with this insight, we can gain ground on our true purpose, which, believe it or not, leads to our greatest joy. * * * The chart I am using is April 1st 1979, Tehran, Iran, at 15:00. It is the chart taken from the time of proclamation of The Islamic Republic given on a radio broadcast by Ayatollah Khomeini. This information can be found on page 205 of Nicholas Campion's The Book of World Horoscopes. I shall also be looking at the Solar Return chart for this year. To get us going, let's first look at the natal chart and list a few things that leap out. Coming up we have two eclipses. The first is on July 7th, which is a Lunar Eclipse and the second is on the 22nd July, which is a total Solar Eclipse. The first of the Eclipses, the Lunar Eclipse, highlights the 5th House, because it happens at the end of the 5th house of the natal, a house that is currently strongly featured at the moment. It is the house of self-expression, fun, and creativity. Meanwhile, the second eclipse happens bang on the natal Jupiter. Jupiter is the ruler of the natal 5th House and the natal 8th, the house of death. He is in his exaltation, and so is aN important planet, albeit hidden away in the 12th. Also, Jupiter is the Lord of the Solar Return (2009) 5th House. The eclipse happens in the 12th House of the natal, the house of hidden enemies and self-undoing. So, hidden enemies, or enemies that have been created by hiding something or another, most probably self-expression (5th House), will be highlighted. Hence we have crowds angrily walking the streets wanting their vote to count - their expression to count. As I write now, we are a couple of weeks away from the Lunar Eclipse and a few more weeks away from the Solar one. We can expect, therefore much more in the coming months in terms of demands for self-expression, which, unless the government will do something about it, will lead to their self-undoing or downfall. We can expect something very emphatic to happen to the nation, because Jupiter is also Lord of the 8th of the Natal, which is the House of Death. Also, at the moment, in the 8th House by transit we have Uranus conjuncting Mars and Mercury. Plus, we have an approaching opposition from Saturn to this conjunction. Meanwhile, the country has just undergone its Saturn return - it's time to grow up. This conjunction of Uranus and the opposition is pretty devastating, not least because of the explosive, revolutionary and freedom demanding nature of Uranus conjunct Mars. We also have Mars, ruled by Jupiter (self-undoing and self-expression) in opposition to the old authority, Saturn. In the return chart we have the Moon square aspect to Saturn, illustrating a confrontation between the people (Moon) and the old authority (Saturn). We also have a square of a Jupiter ruled Mars to the Moon, showing that the people (Moon) are very angry with something to do with Jupiter (self-expression). Again, unless drastic measures are taken by the government to allow them their say, or the changes they want, there will be some very uncomfortable times to come. However, it is not all bad news. The Lord of the natal chart is the Sun. This represents Iran. Notice that in the progressed chart the Sun is right on the Midheaven and the progressed ruler of the 10th (Venus) is approaching a conjunction with the Sun. So, we have a situation in which the nation, the Sun, is coming into its own authority. This looks good for the people because in the Natal Chart the Sun is in the fall of Saturn - for this to be a happy nation it cannot be ruled by the old authorities, Saturn, because it has been let down (in the fall of) by those authorities. Also, the progressed Sun on the Midheaven exalts the Moon, or the people. So, the nation will fall in favour of the people. Meanwhile Venus in the Natal Chart is in the sign of Jupiter and so brings self-expression to the nation as she conjoins with the progressed Sun. The nation really looks like it is coming into its own here. In the charts we have a very strong Mercury suggestion. In the natal we have Saturn just outside the Second House, and therefore in control there, but in the exaltation and sign of Mercury. We have the Moon in both the natal and return charts in Gemini and so ruled by Mercury. We also have the return Mercury in close conjunct with the Sun, possibly bringing democracy to the nation. Then there is Mercury's very recent entry into the terms of that all-important Jupiter, suggesting again, in part, democracy in relation to spirituality, or a freeing up in terms of spirituality. It also, of course, emphasises a more talkative (Mercury) self-expression (Jupiter). The fact that Saturn is in the exaltation and the sign of Mercury (democracy) suggests that the old ways are under the power of Mercury, a sign that democracy will win through, simply because it is much stronger than draconian ways. The second house is also highlighted here, because Jupiter rules the return second house, and Saturn sits on the second. The second house is the house of self-esteem and resources. This is severely afflicted by Saturn in the natal, and so the nation finds it hard to 'feed' itself through unnecessary restrictions. That is, not only with material resources, but also those of self-esteem. The nation's self esteem is bludgeoned from existence by that nasty Saturn. This will be improved when Mercury takes control (i.e. democracy) - that's because Saturn is well under the power of Mercury. Jupiter is also the natural significator for religion. It is interesting that the Moon, the people, is in the detriment of Jupiter. That is, the Moon doesn't like Jupiter, or harms Jupiter. Perhaps this is that the people don't like the stranglehold that religion has on them. But notice also that in the natal chart the essence of the religion is true - Jupiter is in his exaltation, suggesting the Truth behind a properly interpreted Islam (i.e. for the people today not hundreds of years ago), which has been hidden away in the 12th House, no doubt hounded by the nasty Saturn or those old authorities. Notice that in the natal chart Jupiter is in the detriment of Saturn (the old authorities), so religion or true spirituality doesn't like the authorities. Also, Saturn is in the detriment of Jupiter, so the old authorities harm true spirituality, or the true meaning of the religion. I think that with the Moon in the detriment of Jupiter we have a sign that the people are tired of the religiosity of the nation, and much prefer Mercury, which is getting their self-esteem through discussion, democracy. But, the eclipse on the hidden Jupiter I think helps re-awaken the Truth in Iran's spirituality, which is, of course the very same Truth in all religions. Hence in the Solar Return the nation, the Sun and Mercury are in the triplicity of Jupiter - they like Jupiter, or a true and balanced expression of religion. This will be helped also by the discussion afforded by Mercury. All in all, it appears that over the next two years Iran will undergo considerable and probably violent changes, most probably a change in regime that allows for democracy and self-expression of the individual under a less draconian government, in which spirituality plays a more real but less intrusive role. Indeed it has been the burial of the Truth and self-expression that has led to the problems they now have. True understanding of religion is vital to Iran, because the chart ruler, the Sun, is exalted in the 9th house of religion, or 'The Road to God'. So, it is very likely that true spirituality will soon flourish in a very good way, but it can only be done with the full expression of its entire people living within the accepted bounds of the nation. Needless to say, with all these positive changes, the nation will undergo an increase in self-esteem. MORE TO COME ON THIS PAGE VERY SOON

It is through this that we begin to enjoy astrology's main benefit, which is UNITY. That is, it demonstrates the direct non-causal link between the Universe and us and everything else.
